Cushions: The key to Comfort

Sofa cushions are an essential component of any comfortable and stylish living room. They not only provide a comfortable seating experience but also add aesthetic appeal to your space. The construction of sofa cushions is an important factor to consider when purchasing a sofa. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at sofa cushion construction and what you need to know before making a purchase.

There are two primary types of sofa cushion construction: foam and down/feather.

Foam Cushions:

Foam cushions are made of high-density foam, which can vary in density and firmness. The foam is cut to the size of the cushion and covered in a layer of batting before being enclosed in a fabric cover. The batting helps to soften the edges of the foam and provide a more comfortable seating experience. This construction method is known as "wrapped foam" cushions.

One of the benefits of foam cushions is their durability. They are less likely to lose their shape over time and offer consistent support. Foam cushions are also hypoallergenic and easier to clean than down/feather cushions.

Down/Feather Cushions:

Blend Down feather cushions are made with a Qualux foam core that is high resiliency wit a down-proof tick with sewn borders and down/feather/fiber pockets filled with down/feather/fiber blend and conjugated denier fiber on the top and bottom of the core. Down/feather cushions are known for their luxurious feel and ability to conform to the shape of the body.

Firm Support

Firm Support cushions have a higher density and high resiliency core. They provide much more support than the standard cushion and have a very firm seat. They are extremely durable. They have Polyester fiber glued to the top, front, and bottom of this greater Indentation Load Deflection(ILD) density core with accord tick with sewn borders.

Memory Foam

Memory Foam cushions are Gel-Infused Memory Foam the cushion core is made with high

Density foam 3" thick. Gel-Infused memory foam toppers on both cushion tops

and bottoms. Sewn in accord ticking on the cushion top and bottom with

Muslin wrap around the cushion.

Spring Down

Spring Down cushions are made with a spring core with a Qualux low density, high resiliency surrounding it with down-proof tick with sewn borders and down/feather/fiber pockets filled with down/feather/fiber blend conjugated denier fiber on the top and bottom of the core. They provide the soft comfort of down with the resilient support of a spring system.

When it comes to sofa cushion construction, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Foam cushions offer durability and consistency, while down/feather cushions provide a luxurious feel and conform to the shape of the body. Ultimately, the choice between foam and down/feather cushions comes down to personal preference and the specific needs of your space. Consider your lifestyle, budget, and style preferences before making a purchase, and be sure to test out different cushion types to find the perfect fit for your home.
